It is possible that Brother HL-2270DW will not reset properly after installing the new shell. You may have a ‘toner low’ or ‘toner empty’ message. It is possible to reset the printer manually to delete this message:
- Make sure the printer is off.
- Open the front cover of the printer.
- Hold the Go button while opening the printer.
- When the Toner, Drum, and Error LEDs are on and the LED is turned off, press the GO button. All LEDs will be turned off.
- Press the Go button twice (2). The Toner, Drum, and Error LEDs will open.
- Cartridge TN420 / TN2210 – Press the Go button six times.
- TN450 / TN2220 cartridge – Press the Go button seven times.
- The LED fault should now light up, close the front cover.

Brother HL-2270DW – Reset drum
After converting the DR420 / DR2200 drum unit to Brother HL2270DW, the number of printer pages needs to be reset. This will turn off the drum warning light in the printer.
Just open the front cover, and hold the “GO” button until all the LEDs are on. Click on the “GO” button and close the front cover.

Brother HL-2270DW – Print Test Page
- Close the printer.
- Hold the GO button while you open the printer. Press the button until the Toner, the Drum and the Error LEDs light up. Turn off GO, the LEDs will turn off.
- To print a test page, press the go button.
- Brother HL-2270DW – Print Settings Page
- Open the printer and wait until it is in Ready mode.
- Press GO three times within two seconds. The printer will print the settings page.

- Close the printer.
- Hold the GO button while you open the printer. Hold the button until all the LEDs light up and the Ready LED light is off.
- Turn off GO, all LEDs will turn off.
- Press GO ten (10) times. The printer will restart automatically.
