Musk hasn’t tweeted about the explosion, but has retweeted a video from SpaceX showing the Starship taking off.

You do not see the explosion in this. But you get some sense of the massive power of that rocket – which, even with the explosion, is the most powerful rocket ever launched.

SpaceX Chief Executive Elon Musk has yet to react to the explosion. His last tweet came half an hour back, when he shared his thoughts about the launch.

Despite the explosions (or increasingly unscheduled disassembly, as SpaceX calls them) the launch was a great success. He was only expected to clear the launchpad, which he did.

SpaceX has no information on the cause of the explosion and hence its live coverage will end.

The starship exploded dramatically in the sky.

The explosion happened just when the two pieces were about to separate.

A minute into testing and everything looks like it’s working. The rocket has cleared its launchpad and is flying into space.
