An X Factor star who went missing off the coast of Barcelona last year is feared drowned.

Singer and rugby player Levi Davies was last seen at The Old Irish Pub on 29 October 2022, having left the UK for Ibiza after suffering an injury.

Mr Davis left a friend he was staying with and took a boat to Barcelona without clothes or money.

Fresh evidence from a police investigation suggests his phone was last found at the far end of the Spanish city’s commercial port.

That same night, crews on a cruise ship attempted to rescue a man in the water.

In a statement shared today, the family of the former Bath player said they had been told by local police that the person who drowned could be Mr Davies.

The family said: “Extensive work has been carried out to track Levi’s movements on the night of 29 October and he [the police] Were able to confirm that after his last reported sightings at the Hard Rock Cafe, Levy walked down La Rambla and entered the commercial port.

“A report of a person in the water has been investigated by staff on board a cruise ship that entered port at 6.30am on 30 October. Four staff members confirmed a man was in the water with specific descriptions, including him asking for help in English and the color of his clothing.

“A life jacket was thrown overboard and emergency sea and air rescue services searched the area but were unable to locate him.”

The family said they were hoping police would authorize a search of the nearby body of water.

His mother Julie and friend Richard Squire met with police on Monday for an update on the investigation.

The inquiry into Mr Davies’ disappearance is ongoing and his loved ones have asked for privacy.

Mr Davies appeared on the Celebrity X Factor in 2019, during which he formed a singing group with fellow rugby players. She also starred in E4’s Celebs Go Dating in 2020.

The 24-year-old had signed a record deal and moved in with Mr Squire in Ibiza to work on new music.

Speaking to the BBC last month, Mr Squire said he dropped Mr Davies off in Ibiza Town on 28 October and had not seen him since.

He said Mr Davis told him he was going to Barcelona.

A private investigator is helping the family and a £10,000 reward was offered for information on his whereabouts.

As concern grew, Bath Rugby shared a missing persons appeal in November.
