“I have been on a mental health journey for many years. It’s something I’m really passionate about,” Carl explained. “Therapy has played a huge role in how I’m able to overcome things in my life and get into relationships and be kind to my friends and family and fiancé and more. able to show in a more intense way.”

The filmmaker said he hopes his participation in the campaign can help reduce the stigma of seeking help. “If I can help one person make one phone call to go to a therapist, that’s incredible and that’s what it’s all about,” he said. “Normalize it. People go to the gym and work out to keep their body fit, but then you must go to the gym for your mind. In fact I want to continue promoting it, just because it works for me. And I think it can work for other people too.
