SA while back, a girlfriend’s new job made her work day start at 5 in the morning. She asked me what beauty treatments can make her look and feel “made up” while maximizing every last bit of time in bed. Brow lamination, with results that last a month, was my first instinct and after a few years, she’s never been late for work again.
It’s a beauty cliché now, but well-shaped, arched eyebrows actually frame the entire face, making the most immediate and striking difference. Brow lamination involves loosening the structure of each hair, allowing it to be combed in a complete upward and outward fashion, rather than poking stubbornly and slightly in an upward or downward direction.
After applying chemicals (similar to old-fashioned hair relaxers) to the top, the brows are covered in clingfilm for a few minutes, brushed off, then re-covered in “correction” cream, if desired. Combed into position and re-wrapped to set in film. Place. The whole process takes about 15 minutes, unless you want to dye brows and/or lashes at the same time (another 10-15 minutes) to even better mimic the effects of makeup.
The result is groomed, fuller, lifted brows that stay in place without brow gel. It’s not horribly expensive (from around £25-£30, depending on where you live) and is money well spent if you’re an early riser, makeup avoider, festival-goer, natural. Have adorably high-maintenance brows, or booked a vacation on which you’ll want to do little more than mainline rum and JoJo Moyes.

Since brow lamination works with pre-existing brows, it has its own limitations. People with temporary or chronic alopecia, either through chemotherapy, hormonal or health changes, will do infinitely better with microblading or microshading. But for anyone who has something to work with, lamination can transform sparse, patchy or disheveled brows into fuller, natural-looking arches that open up the eye area and demand next to nothing upkeep .
